Most signings will require one piece of valid identification per signer, in some cases, you will be required to provide two forms of ID per signer. Common identification documents allowed by states for notarization include:
- State driver’s licenses and non-drivers IDs
- Passports
- Federal IDs such as military identification cards, state, county and local government IDs
- Lawful permanent resident cards (often called “green cards”).
Some signings will require cash to close. This should be in the form of a cashier’s check, and escrow should provide you with the amount needed to be paid, prior to the signing. In some cases, a personal check will be accepted by escrow, for amounts below a certain cost.
